D.R. Horton-Schuler Division

When one of the nation’s largest home builders, D.R. Horton-Schuler Division (DRH), needed to build community support for its Ho‘opili project—a proposed, 1,554 acre, mixed-use, sustainable development in East Kapolei — it retained Bennet Group to assist with a coordinated communications and community relations program designed to support every stage of the entitlement and approval process. Bennet Group helped the company address an array of community concerns about the project, including land use issues, preservation of agriculture, the relationship to rail and other issues such as traffic, infrastructure, transportation, and connectivity to the existing, surrounding neighborhoods. Bennet Group also helped create various communications tools, including monthly e-newsletters, website updates, digital communications, and media relations, all designed to keep key stakeholders informed and build project support. The project – which won City Council approval in May 2015 – is expected to break ground to deliver its first home in 2017
