PONO SUGANUMA RECOGNIZED AS PRSA HAWAI‘I’S YOUNG PR PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

Bennet Group wins nine awards at the 40th annual industry event

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Hawai‘i Chapter, recognized Pono Suganuma as the Hōkūpa‘a Young Professional of the Year during the 40th annual PRSA Koa Anvil Awards ceremony, recognizing the industry’s top campaigns and most influential leaders of the year.

The Hōkūpa‘a Award, named after the North Star, is symbolic of a guiding force that always provides leadership to peers in the profession. It acknowledges exceptional leadership potential and achievement during initial years in the profession.

Pono, a senior account manager, specializes in strategic planning, crisis communications, message and multimedia content development, and media relations to help clients navigate complex community issues and influence key stakeholders. Only four years into her public relations career, she counsels some of Hawai‘i’s top organizations, including Young Brothers, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, Turtle Bay Resort and Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, among several others.

In addition to Pono’s recognition, Bennet Group received nine awards for its work on behalf of Ward Village, The Queen’s Health System, King Lunalilo Trust, Trust for Public Land, Turtle Bay Foundation, Honolulu Board of REALTORS® and Young Brothers. Established in 1983, the Koa Anvil Awards honor best-in-class execution of the four rings of excellence on which the nominations are judged: research, planning, execution and evaluation.
